Has anyone tried this company's conversion kits?
On youtube there are several videos, one including an OS 120 FS running on gas. I have emailed them and they say the conversion takes 5 minutes. Change the glow plug to spark plug, add the hall sensor and mount the walbro carb and adapter to the intake. Hook it all up and done.
I always thought there were some internal bushings/valve seats that needed better lubrication, or could not stand the heat from the gasoline combustion?
In the engines section I described having problems with my OS 120 surpass pumped and am looking for a regular carb for it, but maybe this would be better (and cheaper in the long run with the price of glow fuel!)

Re: glow to gas four strokes

This would complicate your life.

In addition to the added cost, there would also be a battery requireed for the ignition. That's another item you must purchase and maintain. There's no free ride. When it craps out, you will not have ignition. You'll also be adding weight to your airplane.

Additionally, you'll need some sort of lubricant in your fuel since model airplane engines do not use any form of wet or dry sump with an oil pump. The lubrication to the lower end happens by blow by where that contains the necessary oil. Ultimately, some of that gets into the head to lubricate the valve mechanism.

More complexity, more cost and more areas for problems. It'll take a while to get any kind of payback on that just from switching your fuel.

All that said, why not give it a try and see how it actually works out?

Or just replace it with a DLE20

Three guys in my club bought the conversion kit at toledo this year. They are
all having problems of one sort or another. I will pass this on to them and
you can talk to them.
