The big problem that you've got with all these suggestions is that no two ribs will be drilled or punched in the identical place. That is, you will have what is called a registration probelm when you assemble them on your jig.

A much better way to accomplish the task is to stack the ribs with all the edges exactly even and tape them together with a couple of bands of masking tape. If necessary, true them up at the same time, which you need to do anyway to make them all the same.

Then, use a Forstner bit in you drill. It's made for doing exactly what you are interested in doing.

To be certain that it works out right and does not damage any of the ribs, place a scrap of wood in tight contact with the outside of both the top and bottom ribs. You could include that under the masking tape bands.

Shove them under your drill press and watch as in a few seconds you wind up with a prefectly identical stack of ribs with the most beautiful holes you've ever seen in exactly the same location on each rib.

Fiddling around with one rib at a time and trying to make them all with the holes properly aligned is for the birds. Won't happen.

Re: Round holes in Balsa

I use a single hole punch for paper for holes for servo wires, control rods, etc. It can even be done after the wing is built!

As pointed out by others, it would not be accurate enough for a wing jig.
Hang time does not apply to ceiling fans, light fixtures, overhead door tracks or basketball nets!
