Interesting site Nigel, the panels aren't that difficult to make, they cut out nicely with regular sissors. One thing I did change was to go to coventional hex head 2-56 bolts for the Fokker nuts, you dont see the heads anyways and they are a hundred times easier to use than the supplied slot headed machine screws..The slot headed bolts are backbreakers and they can drive you mad.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

I've decided to do the exhaust pipe using balsa block for the main pipe.I'm also using dowels and the supplied hose for the individual cylinder pipes.Later I'll glass it then paint..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Now I was really looking forward to seeing your metal bashing skills on the exhaust!

Don't blame you mind, I thing the glassed balsa will give quicker and better results!

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Well after some painful and very long decorating duties I have got my building board out!

Could have made a 1/3 Turner Special, 1/4 Travel Air Mystery Ship, or finished my BT Spitfire I started some years ago! But I have decided the Fokker is next.

I have started on the tail feathers. The build along will be on my website and updated weekly so as not to cloud your thread with another build.

http://www.flightlinegraphics.com/pr.../dvii_main.htm

Not touched the build web site yet but will be tackling it this weekend to bring it up to date.

Nigel

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Looks good enough to me Steve. I am sure it will be fine as long as it passes the vibration test! I will certainly be doing something like this for sure.

I have had a discussion with a guy in Holland and he seems to think the Schlundt gear and ZG-62 combination will will fit into the model. He sent me a cad drawing of the installation. This puts the carb under the dummy engine which would mean a revised fabrication for the engine to allow it fit. I am not convinced but will build the fuselage up and then start to look at the possibilities before I purchase.

Nigel.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Looks like it may fit,I remember Glenn saying that it wouldn't fit the D-7 but it will fit his new SE5 design.I really like the Zimmerman canister behind the firewall idea, you may have to extend the flex pipe..maybe not.Vogelsang also has some really nice 10" spoked wheels.
I'm working on the forward vertical air pump.
