Working on the control column, don't have much time these days because of the job .Still have to add the gun triggers and throttle cables. Some later versions had dual throttle handles,so I may add another.I'm not sure why there would be two..anybody know?

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve, I am building the lower wing at the moment. the wings will split and connect to the aircraft on 2 tubes (25mm on rear spar and 30mm on front spar) I am about to build the second wing and have noticed there is nothing in the instructions or on the plans for wing incidence etc. I know there are differences in your plans to mine so I thought I would ask you first before going to Glenn for a comment.

So how did you get the right fitting for the lower wing to the fuselage??

Hope you had a good Christmas and looking forward to New Year celebrations!

Regards

Nigel

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Good idea splitting the bottom wing Nigel,I'm not happy with my present setup, seems like it will take a long time for field setup as is..maybe not. You'll need to set your fuse at 0 deg and setup your bottom center section so you'll have +1 deg on your bottom wings. Then you have to assemble your wings to the fuse and square everything up while checking incidence before gluing your tubes in position. When I did mine that's basically what i did without the wing tubes. It took a bit of time and patience to line everything up and then i just drilled the holes for the bracket bolts on the bottom stringer. Its the way they did it on the full size but its not very practical for r/c.I'd like to see how you do yours..Happy New Year..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve thanks for the confirmation for +1 I have nothing in mu supplied documentation stating this.

My setup is going to be slightly different to spec as I plan on making the centre section a permanent installation that can be removed if needed. The wings will slide in from both sides and bolt in at the scale locations. I am today building the starboard side lower wing.

I'll post some pictures on for you when I take some. As you have said in a previous post while putting the wings together the construction is pretty straight forward.

The centre section will have new or modified metalwork to locate the frame for the wing tubes. There are a few ways this can be done but I have yet to decide on the final method. That will happen when the construction of the wings is complete and I can see things better.

Happy new year to you all

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Nigel I read the +1 lower 0 upper numbers in the anthology books,I also could not find anything in Glenns material referring to those numbers. However I think Glenns plans are true to scale so they are probably correct.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Right you are. I didn't think of looking in the books at the full size setup! Silly me!

Should have the lower wings completed this evening if all goes to plan. It was a little slow yesterday as some of the ribs that I reinforced for the wing tube have decided to warp a little so I spent much of my time straightening them before including on the building board!

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Well it's got problems doing what I am trying to do here. The mounting brackets with the kit for the centre section need to be mounted in an alternative way because of the tubes. I want the wings to mount on the fuselage using the scale locations which is taking some working out to maintain a rigid structure when it is all tightened up.

I'm getting there slowly. I could not have a single wing because my Car is not long enough in the back, so what I am doing is "compulsory"

Later . . .
