Having modified the chutes like you I am going to rework them again so I can get everything fitting as accurately as possible. Normally I would not bother but I am going commercial with the guns so need to get everything right. I discovered the problem when drawing the belt return tubes and could not fit the right hand guns tubes in.

It will be a few days work from what I can see because the mounts for the guns will need relocating also!

Boo Hiss!
Going commercial? What will you be selling besides the guns ?Keep up the good work Nigel..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve,
I doubt that starting attitude in a Zenoah has anything to do with being broken in. Breaking in strongly increases power, true.
Most of my ZG62's are the SL type and I run them all with EasyStart which imho ist the best invention ever in respect to these engines in a model. You do not need any verve throwing the prop, just turn it with some certainty and it's fine.
Yes I use #5770 by Toni Clark which is Zimmermann brand, I reckon.
Re the aileron linkage: if I knew how to post pics in here in some nice format I would post my solution.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve, everyone tells me there is no problem starting the Z62 with a gear reduction. Using easy start circuit for starting manes it is "pretty routine" to quote one flyer over here. Pretty much what Tilmann is reporting. So whoever told you of difficulty may have other issues making the starting difficult.

Tillman, a number of Dawn Patrol members over here in the UK have seen your D.VII flying video and are very impressed by the performance you have with the 2.5:1 reduction. A marked difference to the Mick Reeves unit certainly considering the extra weight of the GTM model.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Thanks Nigel,
I wish the film quality was better!
Please consider also that it was the maiden flight and I did not try her limits at all!
Yes, the Schlundt reduction is in another league compared to the MR one. It turns a prop of 34X20 at 2900 U/min - let alone the craftmanship in it.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve, I have been out and about the past few days and not noticed the other messages arriving on the tread. Apologies for not answering your comment earlier about going commercial on the guns.

Well I have had a number of people contact me interested in purchasing the guns. I am therefore going to make a few for people to see how they go. Current weight is about 100g per gun decorated and I would like to get that down a little so since my guns were made I have reduced the amount of nylon in the construction and altered the way some parts connect to make them easier to orientate without making a mess of assembly.

I might do other things like the magneto switch and compass in the future, but for now it's just the guns.

Tilmann, I have sent you a mail how to upload images

Another thing I missed was your video Steve. It is practically what I was planning, though a chat with my inspector over the weekend may encourage me to do something like Tilmann with a positive physical connection on the lower horn and a dummy at the top. When I cut everything open I will have a look to see what I need to do.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Tried the top cable/spring method.Works ok but I don't like the constant load on the servo it creates. http://youtu.be/zznY0d1Fk_Q

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve,
depending on the spring you are using the load on let's say a HiTec HS 7985MG (which I use on ailerons) is absoutely negligible!
And of course you do not need a heavy duty power spring! I used springs from the scale of an old transistor radio....

See servo data:
http://hitecrcd.com/products/servos/...-servo/product

No worries at all!

I'm using Savox SA-1231SG High Torque Coreless Steel Gear Digital Servos on my ailerons which have 444 oz of torque. And the spring is from a tailwheel set which I shortened,I may change the spring Tilmann thanks...

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve Digital servos tent to "wine" as we call it over here as soon as a load is applied so I would not worry about that. I am using standard Hitec 645MG servos at 6V which will be sufficient for all surfaces.
