WOW! Very well done, Nigel!
Only concern might be the ZG 62 will get enough air to breathe. Probably not enough through the scale radiator, though.
And depending on the top covers it might be critical.
Fingers crossed!

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Yes the cooling issue was raised by your findings wasn't it when you were setting your engine up.

On seeing what you have done to get cooling to work I have not installed a wood plate for the dummy engine, it basically hangs from the 19mm tube in the air. There wasn't space for a plate to be honest.

I will also be boxing the engine in somewhat to move as much of the air that goes through radiator to go over the engine.

But as you say, fingers crossed. I have dropped a Telemetry unit in to monitor the engine temperature. Mind you I have no idea what is a good engine temperature or a maximum. I will have to do some homework on that one I think!

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Well I made a final decision on engine choice for my D7,I'm going with a 3W-85 with a cannister muffler. The Valach inline idea would take out the front half of my dummy engine so its now in my 1/3 Spitty which was a tight fit but doable. The 3W has lots of power and it should run quiet with the cannister which is really what I want..I still have to add the fuel tank etc..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Now then Steve. I thought you had given up on your D.VII. Nice to see it is coming along. I have heard this engine being used by other builders in the USA so I suspect it will be in good company.

I have progressed my build now to a point where I am going to strip it down and assemble for flight. The engine is going on another model for running in before fitting the reduction and dropping it back in.

She will get some dirt thrown over her to look less fresh in the process !

Please update the forum as you progress.

Nigel
