Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Steve, available parts include the seat, floor board, control column,
compass, throttle quad, control stick, and dash board with all the placards.

As they are from Glenn I am sure they will all be very scale like!

I will be posting most of my build on a UK forum here:

http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,71545.0.html

Full details will be going on my web site.

Nigel

Very good Nigel,I registered on your site to check your progress..
I,ve decided to not use turnbuckles and to go with 80lb test fishing line as others have done for ease of use and weight savings. The cable supplied weighs 1/4lb.I'll do the top and finish the rest of it later on.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Weight is going to be a big issue for me. I don't know what your rules are over there in Canada, but when we get to 20Kg we have to get involved with the CAA for special exemption. Its not a big pain but worth trying to avoid!

Glenn's models built in the USA so far have both tipped over the 20K mark and neither of them had split wings so I have to get creative as you are doing.

I know that saving on the lozenge will save a good amount of weight. The fuselage and tail feathers will be covered in full size synthetic materials which are lighter and stronger than Solartex.

What glue fixing are you using to secure the line?

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Over here we max out at 35 Kg or 77.2lbs I believe.Which gives us some room to build heavier planes however my personal limit from now on is under 23Kg (50lbs) because I want to be able to pick it to load etc etc.My last project (a 1/3 Spit) is over 25kg ,and its real chore to load/unload myself.I think the D-7 can be done at 20Kg Nigel .
I plan on using Sig Coverall on mine.I'm not sure if I'll dope everything, but since we have to use dope on the linen lozenge fabric I may go with dope all the way.I was thinking a combination of dope and Stits polytone, but I don't know if that would work well or not..I like solartex but I also like something a little stronger...
I was going to use ca glue on the lines..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Getting at the subwing, glued the outer two ply ribs together, then the box parts which snap together nicely.Next I'll cut the axle to length to fit the Dubro wheels, and drill the centre hole..
