Still working on the radiator assembly,I added the fiberglass chin temporarily held in place with screws,so that I could fit the lower radiator cover which is made of aluminium.Lots of paitence required here to get things lined up and fitting nicely.Still in the early stages here.Next I'll fit the grill and start shaping the top of the rad.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Some progress,I got the seat just about finished, and the frame to mount it on.Added some paint. They called for a Polar Grey(blue grey) or light green,I went with what I had which is an acrylic cobalt cromite blue with some white added..
I'll finish rigging the fuse now,and then get at the lower wing ..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Rigging is done on the fuse, that 80lb test line really strengthens the fuse a lot, before it was easy to twist and now its rock solid.I still have to build the fin,I'll add it later...onto the wings ..

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Looking good there Steve. Where did you drill the dowel frame to make way for the line to pass through. As I see it in each point there is thread passing in 2 directions. Can't quite see it in the pictures.

Hope you understand what I mean!!

I understand Nigel,The vertical sections go through the top and bottom of each vertical brace at the longeron. The top and bottom horizontal sections go through each longeron just fore and aft of each vertical at a 45 degree angle. Then on the longeron you resess or create a trough for the cable so it doesn't protrude and wont be seen under the fabric.Takes a bit of time and patience.
Did you get the rest of your kit yet Nigel?

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Thanks for that Steve great answer

Yes the parts came last week. Only missing the instrument panel now. I have been very busy with work and not had a chance to look at it all in too much detail. I may be expanding the work on the dummy engine as suggested by Glenn, but not sure how far to go. I have a few more weeks of decorating before I can start on the model so I am getting loads of silly ideas!.

I'll pop some pictures of the dummy engine tomorrow if you want.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

That would be great to see Nigel,I don't have the instument kit either,I guess Glenn is working on them. From the latest research I've done on Lother Richthofen's yellow/red D-7 it seems his could have been a Fokker built machine.I was told it was probabily an OAW late version so thats the version I'm building. So now I'm not sure which one it is that he flew.I've heard that the illustrators have gotten it wrong also and that his D-7 may have been all red with some yellow on the tail.If anyone has an opinion I'd like to read it.
