Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

If you look at the pictures I posted you will see 6 blocked of solid wood. These are the cylinders and weigh 840g on their own. Weight was not a consideration when Glenn designed the engine as typically a good quantity of Church Roof is needed to balance the model. Might as well be functional in weight I suppose!

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Got the Spandue LMG's in from Balsa USA.The kit contains laser cut parts,a large dowel to shape the cooling shroud, various other ply and balsa parts.plus a constuction manuel..its something like the Arizona Aircrafters kit except you dont get any ammo or ammo belt with it...also picked up a WW1 propwasher which looks pretty good..
Am still working on the bottom wings....

Ya I know Mike,I had a weak moment,he he ,but they are good for testing and breaking in engines for future scale projects.I'll be breaking in a couple of 130 4 strokes on this one for a future twin project..a Bud Nosen Cessna 310.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Ok. I guess its ok. I just think everyone in hobby should build from kit or scratch build more. It's becoming a lost art anymore.

Re: GTM 1/3 Fokker D-7

Almost completed the bottom wing, took a bit of time and patience with Glenns methods of producing parts and putting things together, however his methods do work..just takes awhile.
