Tom you will be very happy with a 480 power system from a Radian. An excellent amount of power for 2 - 2.5M electric assist gliders.
As a side note, program your speed controller to soft, or super soft start. This will reduce stress and fatigue on the folding prop asembly. I don't run E-Flight speed controllers, find someone that can help accomplish this. Alternatly apply power in a controlled manner. Folding prop hubs self distruct if all available torque is applied. A common failure on Radians. perceived as a design flaw. Actually operator fault though lack of education/experiance.
I too have owned and flown Oly 650's years ago. Quite often competing against a fellow modeller for first place in Competiter class all darn summer province wide in 1992. His Oly 650, verse my Oly 99. Good memories.
Hope you get as much enjoyment out of silent flight as I have over the years.

P.S. Blenderm 1" from the Drugstore, or Hobbyshop (Dubro #916)
Works great at holding wings together.

Re: Started our first balsa glider...

Thanks for all the replies, gents. I have been remiss in acknowledging the value of your advice. I stated reading this thread from the beginning just recently, and have realized how many have chimed in with tips and tricks from their vast pools of knowledge. To be able to build this glider/sailplane without having someone experienced looking over my shoulder has been a challenge to say the least, but you have all made our goal achievable. Thanks very much!
