Question SBACH 342 What's it Like???

Greetings all
I'm thinking about getting a bigger aircraft (50cc +) and have been eye-balling the SBACH342. Can anyone please let me know what they are like to fly. Are they stable flyers, great for 3D, etc??? I have a 50cc Extra 300, 30cc Katana and a 30cc Yak 54 which I like very much, but, the SBACH looks kinda cool. Any info or recommendation would be appreciated.

Re: SBACH 342 What's it Like???

Konrad, I only flew my friends 50cc Sbach, Red black, and white. Flew great, very good in knife edge very little inputs. But that color combination get hard to see, and blends into the sky quick. The own agreed after I mentioned it, he found the same.
I was poised to purchase a green / white one last spring but delayed due to other unfinnished projects.

as dale said its a very good flying airplane, just don,t buy a pilot one, they have had alot of issues with their planes,.i had a brand new 36% pilot sbach,i loved the way it handled and flew, but after five flights the right wing flew off.they also had rear stab incidence problems with all their extra 260,s 25 %-35% ers.i,m waiting for another company to come out with a 35% sbach and will buy one.just my 2 cnts.

life begins under 10ft and ends at ground zero.
fly it like you hate it.

Re: SBACH 342 What's it Like???

Hi Konrad ... I have the 30cc airframe from Slipstream .... OS120AX powered with a 16*10APC prop .... and will say it's a great flier .... inverted/knife edge/vertical .... it's got it all ..... does exacly what you tell it do do .... not forgiving at all ( but then it's not a trainer ) .... the distance between wing & hor. stab is short (can't remember what thats called) .... makes for a very responsive ele. I would recommend EXP control for sure .... I'm going to change the prop to something a little less grabby .... current setup makes for "hot" landings if I want to keep the engine running ....

I would say ... if the 50cc config has the same characteristics .... you will love it ....

Just as an aside .... I put my Garmin GPS in it and went for a spin ..... it came back with 194kph max trip (ground speed) .... not that screaming through the sky ... hell bent for leather ... with you hair on fire ..... is a 3D necissity .... but it's nice to know if the "Need for Speed" arises .... it's capable ...

.. Arn

Thanks for the input guys! Still not sure. May go for a 50cc Yak 54 or Slick540 (something along those lines) instead.
