Re: What is ds2 and dsmx, high speed.

You Don't need a DSMX Tx to use DSMX Rx.it will work as a Dsm2 but without the advantages of dsmx. Good news is it will still work with older DSM2 Rx as well. You also need a 2048 capable Tx to have the benefits of the high speed Rx likes DX7se or 12x and DX8. It will still work just no speed benefit.

So you only need to bind and fly no upgrade required.

Dsm2 Rx have been discontinued and replaced with DSMX Rx.

The satellite receivers are not interchangeable, use DSMX satellite with DSMX receiver only.

Re: What is ds2 and dsmx, high speed.

The whole DSM/DSMX thing is confusing eh?

A few simple points:

- DSMX and DSM2 are fully compatible with each other.
- If either the TX or RX is DSM2, the system will only operate in DSM2 mode.
- DSMX is a frequency hopping version of DSM2. In crowded RF environments (ie. large events), it will be less prone to interference. Otherwise you won't notice a difference.

- 2048 resolution:

The JR9303 2.4GHz DSM2 radio is capable of 2048 resolution. The AR8000 should be able to support it.

- High speed 11ms frame rate:

AFAIK, the 9303 is only capable of the standard 22ms frame rate. Sadly, there is no upgrade. The AR8000 is capable of 11ms but must be paired with an 11ms capable TX and proper servos (usually digital servos, check with the mfg to be sure).

I own a DX8 and have several RX's including the AR8000. However, I mainly fly small parkflyers and scale planes. I cannot run 11ms frame rates with most of my servos and they do not seem to benefit from 2048 resolution. Perhaps if I had a heli or 3D ship with digital servo's it would make more of difference.
