Ronnie, always use left/right, port/starbourd as if sitting in the pilots seat.
Once we get that confirmed, then are you asking to reduce the right thrust?

Better answered by someone who has installed a DLE30 (or over powered).

Re: Buying a Slipstream Beaver

Sorry, if sitting in the seat i would like to move the engine to the right 1cm. Up 1cm would be good too. Just slide the engine over 1cm not change the angle.

Re: Buying a Slipstream Beaver

Much better discription, thank-you.
Again, I have not built one of these "Yet", and I would power it only with my DLE20. Especially after seeing Pipercub 17's. Also understand how you beat me to this 30 out of Quebec(?), for my RV8. Having the center of thrust off center by 1cm, for cosmetic reasons----- I would-. O.K., now the varying opinions start.
I beleive you are going to fly this like some of your other float planes, with throtle management. As seen in your video's. Being over powered, and on floats I trust you would beleive that by pinning the power, she could be center stage of a Rodeo - Real Quick!

Hope this helps,
-Dale-

Yes John, or possibly a side mount. But I'm the kind of guy that would make my own manifold.

Re: Buying a Slipstream Beaver

Moving the engine 1cm one way or the other will not change any of the thrust angles. If the firewall has the angles already built in then you should see them, the firewall will not be squared to the fuselage. It will have some right thrust (angle)and some down thrust (angle) built into it.

What will change is where your cowl hole for the engine spinner sits in relation to the engine. As noted by pipercub17.

Meaning if you put the engine right on the mark then your spinner will line up with the hole at the front of the cowl, if you move the engine over a little then you won't have your spinner centered in the cowl.
As long as it looks okay to you then it will be fine. I turned my DLE 30 clockwise a little to tuck my stock can under a little so it would clear the cowl on my Stearman. Cowls sometimes have some lee way for fixing such things but then your cowl might not be in perfect alignment with the fuse.

Even if you have it perfect on the lines it does not mean the spinner/cowl relationship with be perfect. Need to check these things best you can before cutting anything. Not easy with an engine not hung and a cowl not cut out for it.

PM hammer833 and ask for some pics of his DLE30 install.

Re: Buying a Slipstream Beaver

Thanks Dan. The hole in front of the cowl is huge so maybe 1cm to the right wont be noticeable. I PM'd hammer833 earlier today for some info maybe he will get back to me before I start drilling the firewall. Turning the engine sounds interesting though, never thought of that.
