If we want to get picky - one of my pet peeves is that you rarely see a scale model flown in a manner that resembles full scale flight!

But that's a whole different topic.

Perhaps the problem is that not many model fliers have taken the time to go to an airshow/airport to see & hear the real thing?
I agree with you completely! Particularly today where the Tim Taylor school of "MORE POWER" seems to go hand in hand with RC haha. Remember when 1/4 scale cubs were being flown on .60 2 strokes or .91 4 strokes? They couldn't do a loop without a 200 foot dive haha, but it was scale! Airplanes that today are considered the new 26CC size airplanes were all flown with .60 to .90's and flew more "correctly" as per their full scale counterparts.

Either way, as I said, the Klassen engine is beautiful looking and I appreciate the machining more than the sound anyway.

I'll agree whole heartedly with that, only thing I like better than a pylon or ducted fan engine sound is that of a turbine

Re: Klassen Engine

Yup, I would have to agree with what both Old Prairie and Jeremy (LGM) are saying. Scale flight seems to have gone the way of the dodo. As for scale sound, well, turbines are about the closest really, and some of the larger Moki radials.

Interesting thing though, that big Kolm 3 cylinder in that model Mustang that was posted a while back does sound surprisingly realistic....but not for a real Mustang. What it sounds like to me is a homebuilt Thunder Mustang with the 640hp Falconer V-12 engine......remember those 2 at Abbotsford a few years back Jeremy??
