Ok. Thanks for the replies. Think I am following so far.
Makes sense to remove the oils....but I thought they used a wax for releasing the mold?

I have a little experience with glass fuselages,here is what I found.
Usually the greenish glass is polyester (it has a very distinct smell when grinding or making cutouts in it with a dremel tool.)
Polyester smells alot like automotive bodyfiller.
Epoxy glass is usually a milky yellow/beigh colour (not much odour when grinding or makeing cutouts.)
Not all molds are just waxed before doing a glass layup,some use PVA which is sprayed into the molds,the layup done then the part is pulled and the PVA is washed off with water.
If you are preping the part for paint,I hope you knew what resin it was made with when adhereing parts to it , polyester resin and epoxy resin do not bond well with each other.
I use 99% pure alcohol (Wallmart) to wash down the part before any bonding ,sanding or paint prep.
