Talking 1:1 Skidoo mini z project

My project is pretty straightforward but I need a few suggestions and some others experience I'm using my traxxas 2.4ghz 3 channel TX/rx I'm using the red button for the kill switch....the engine is a 6.5 Honda. For the throttle I want to use a regular hs5645mg... For the brakes I feel I may need a bigger servo to pull that cable. The steering is where I have concerns. I know a snowmobile jerks around alot and I'm worried that a large several hundred dollars servo may break instantly.

So my questions

How would I connect 2 servos to work as gas and brake. I'm familiar with the traxxas setup.

Should I just use 1 larger servo for gas and brake hook them both to it.

For the steering I am taking any suggestions....my thought is something like the 2 to 4 hi and low knob in a new truck... Have the servo actuate the knob while a larger 1:1 unit actually does the work

Will one of those 300 dollar seen on mythbusters servos work

I would like the rc steering to be easily connected and disconnected easily. I wouldn't mind the kids still driving it with me in control of the gas and brake

Thanks. Any thoughts, suggestions, or links much appreciated

Methinks, you should certainly entertain us with progress pictures along the way. Great idea btw, sorry I'm of no use.

Re: 1:1 Skidoo mini z project

I saw a project on youtube where a guy custom built a huge monster truck, perhaps you can send him a message to see how he did it? It would be about the same weight as your project.
IMO, i would hook a servo directly up to the carb linkage, are the brakes cable or hydr? because that makes a difference of how to hook it up.
As for steering ,I would use a power window motor from a car with the wormgear/gearbox, they are very powerfull. But with any of this, it's going to have a lot of customizing....sound neat though.keep us posted and good luck.

this is the link to the truck.......

this video shows the steering motor...looks like he used an atv winch or geared motor.??

Re: 1:1 Skidoo mini z project

+1 on a window motor ,lots of torque
can be had cheap from a wrecking yard

BTW they did make hydraulic conversions for the brakes on the bigger skidoos , not sure about the mini
Not sure why skidoo still uses/used mechanical brakes

a dead man tether would be a must if you put the kids on it
