Re: MiG 25 Foxbat 70mm

this was an unusual project for me, and just seemed to go together well. It took me 4 years (off and on)to build a GP Cub.

The real test will come when I step on thay launch pedal and that thing shoots forward and, with a little luck, FLYS!

sure wish I could do a couple taxi tests befor the first flight but I guess I will have to just grin and cross my fingers.

Still waiting for a servo (and spring) befor I can call it done.

Got a box full of balsa and ply the other day so I might have to pull out the big Yak plans and get that warbird ready.

Re: MiG 25 Foxbat 70mm

Bill,

Just noticed that you used flat airfoil on the wing, is there a specific reason to use it on a jet model?

Re: MiG 25 Foxbat 70mm

it came out a bit thicker then I had hoped, for the next one I will build a thinner wing. These EDF's are really one trick ponys, they fly around and do big loops and rolls, no 3D stuff, so the flat wing will work just fine. with the fatter wing the low speed performance will be a little better, (not a good thing for a Jet) but remember I have to get this thing down on it's belly in the grass.

It was not built to be an all out speed demon.

Re: MiG 25 Foxbat 70mm

Ok i hear ya, but actual Mig 25s were designed and made as Mach 3 interceptors to intercept US's mach 3 XB-70 VALKYRIE bombers!, so yeah 25 Foxbats were the most fastest and powerful of all Russian jets of cold war era....

Ya they scared the crap out of the US for a little wile when they first came online, but other than being really fast they were not all that well suited as a fighter.

If you see one don't be confused if you see it rusting, the airframe was welded steel to take the heat at Mach3+

I would have gone with a Mig 29 Fulcrum, but the airframe has a big gap between the engines and does not lend itself to a single engine model that well, Might get a couple EDF fan unit's from HK and build one on day, or a SU27 Flanker.
