need 2 motors from one esc for Starship

I made a little profile Beech Starship with walmart rtf parts,
that is such a terrific flyer, that I want a bigger version,
this has great potential for a 2 meter powered glider.
Could I run a couple of slim cylinder-shaped brushless motors
from just one esc?
Gotta tell ya, the Beech Starship has character bigtime passing overhead!

It's pretty much impossible to do this on a BL motor setup. Unlike brushed motors, a brushless ESC actually 'senses' the motor position to determine which of the 3 motor coils to energize and turn the motor. If the motor positions differ by even a few degrees, the ESC will get confused (lose sync) and shut down.

Small BL ESC's (6 amps and lower) are available that weigh under 6 grams/ea. You really won't be adding much weight.

Brushed motors can be paralleled on one ESC, but they will likely be heavier. It all depends on the size.

Re: need 2 motors from one esc for Starship

I second that. Each brushless motor requires its own discreet ESC to function.

One addition is that if the ESC has a BEC circuit to provide power to the radio system, then you need to disable one of them by removing the RED wire from the ESC lead going to the receiver and taping it back. The BLACK ground must remain connected, as with the WHITE, YELLOW or ORANGE signal lead.

I don't know where you are located, but from memory there is only one flyable Starship remaining. However, "Miss Piggy", ie. Piaggio Avanti is still popular and distinctive.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
