anybody flying the ST Models DG1000?

I test flew my ST Models DG1000 with the Retract Motor System, that I got
from Tower Hobbies.
I got a favorable impression, it was a real hoot to hear the retract doors snap
shut 1000 ft overhead, the only flight quirk was slight tail heaviness when the
motor retracted.
I spent over 15 minutes enjoying some weak winter thermals
A hard landing roughed up the front canopy mount, so I reworked
the nose with a bit of balsa and micro balloons, achieving a nicer blend
to the front canopy than came from the factory.
Next will be drag reduction. Glider has a lot of molding marks, in addition
to rough edges around the wings--the worst thing being the blunt 1/8" thick
trailing edges, also a deep crack under the wing lead edge where I guess
they glued the bottom panel.
I couldnt find any thread on this, is anybody else in Canada flying the DG 1000?

Oh, one other thing-it sure beats slogging a hi-start through foot of snow!

High starts don't work in the winter. The rubber looses all it's stretch kind of feels like a wet noodle!

Nice bird Wendell! Question: What aligns the prop with the hole in the fuse before retraction?
Hang time does not apply to ceiling fans, light fixtures, overhead door tracks or basketball nets!

Actually, I used hi-starts year round when I was 30 yrs younger,
now its my knees that are "wet noodles"

When you throttle back, the pylon tilts back a bit in such a way that
a little stopper elevates, then the prop windmills against it in the vertical position, then SLAM. Slickest thing I ever saw

The first part of this clip shows how

I spent most of today sanding away molding marks, put tape on the
lead edges, and cut 2 slots in the bottom of the nose for the purpose
of holding the lipo in place--just thread a zip-tie up through around
the battery. No more batteries smashing through the canopy. of course
you need wire cutters to remove the battery.

I sure like this electric, might dumping a bunch of nitro engines
