Question DX8 repair

Hi folks,

Finally getting around to sending my DX8 back to Horizon Hobbies for recall repair. UPS pickup tomorrow, so I was wondering how long should I expect before its return. Good to know HH is footing the costs on shipping and return. Does anyone know exactly what gets repaired? I know that mine acts up with DSM2 receivers, especially with my UMX models...total momentary loss of signal with the UMX's and brown outs with AR6200.

Re: DX8 repair

Expect turn around to be around a month. That's what mine was for the dsmx upgrade for my 12X.

The lockout issue only affects the 6 channel DSM2 RX's, but not the AR6400 used in the UMX planes:

We have discovered that in some rare instances, DSMX equipped transmitters with the Product ID (PID) within this bulletin, may have a backwards compatibility issue that could cause a "hold" with the following superseded DSM2 receivers: AR500, AR6100, AR6100E, AR6110, AR6110E, AR6200 and AR6300.
It's troubling that the UMX planes is also giving you issues. There could be something else going on with your TX.

My DX8 has not been sent in for this recall yet and I've flown plenty of AR6400 equipped planes and heli's with zero problems. Since all of the other RX's I fly with are DSMX, I just haven't bothered.

Definitely send it in and get it repaired. Horizon will diagnose, repair and fully inspect your radio. They will also apply all software and hardware updates during this process.

A few tips for you:

- Only send the bare radio. No batteries, no manuals, nothing else.
- Use the original box then place it into a larger box... essentially 'double boxing' it. This will give it the best protection.
- Typically, they will mail the shipping label and customs paperwork to you. If you don't get it within 2 weeks, call them directly.

Good luck!
