Flytwice, the reason for that second battery is to isolate the receiver from any interference generated by the rather long servo leads. Besides, I need all the weight I can get in the nose. The Bear is notoriously tail heavy.
Speaking of 40 year old tech, I remain on 72MHz. Other than the now rarer instance of frequency conflict, you don't hear of anything like the system flubs and failures you get on 2.4.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!
