I am sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. I first met him when we made the trip up to Bonnyville several years back. When you were around him, you could just feel his passion for jets. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

I flew with Gerry and the gang in Bonnyville for many years before I moved... Gerry was an ambassador to the hobby, always getting involved and offering a helping hand. He taught many up and coming pilots in the early years of the Bonnyville club, I used to look forward to the evening flying sessions at the field and see what Gerry brought out this time....

Gerry was always the best dressed man at the field, always in dress shoes, nice dress pants and collared shirt. I'll never forget him....

He will be sadly missed... Rest in peace my friend...

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

Very sad to hear of Gerry's passing. I guess it's been 13 years now since I met Gerry. I first met him while doing a turbine demonstration run at Hobby Whole sale in 2000. At that time Gerry was I believe in the process of buying a turbine but hadn't yet gotten his. He was very interested in both the engine and my Kangaroo. I remember a year or so later, Gerry, Dean Wichmann and myself and I'm sure a few others having some beers getting Gerry's Kangaroo ready to maiden the next day. Everytime I spoke with Gerry he was always genuinely interested in what was going on, always asked how my family was, just a really spectacular person. He will truly be missed as one of the good RCer's, and as a good friend. My wishes go to his brother, and all his family.

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

I also am very sad to hear of Gerry's passing. I have many good memories of talking to Gerry about his full scale days, he had several very interesting planes. I went to a couple of events in his area and was very welcomed. I always asked, and hoped, that he and Laurier would come to the Princeton events, they would bring the event to life.

I will miss him and wish his family well.

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

My condolences to Laurier and Gerry's family.

I met Gerry a few times and he was always a class act and so, so friendly. I was lucky enough to spend a few long weekends with him and Laurier and have some good conversations over dinner. I wish I had known him longer but at the same time relieved that his suffering is over.

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

Many condolences to Gerards ( Gerrys ) family. Gerry was a true pioneer to the hobby and a true friend, living only 30km away from him he was always around to answer any questions I ever had. When I said I would be passing thru he insisted I always stop and see his new project , let it be jet or new aircraft. Starting in jets 1 year ago , he insisted should I have any problems to let him know..Back in October of last year I called him up and said a few of us were going to the ELK POINT airport to do some Jet flying , he told me he did not know if he should come ,well he did show up that day ,,and yes he did fly his jet as well . That may have been the last time he flew,it was a true pleasure flying with him that beautiful fall day, well Mr.Sylvestre I hope you get to fly everyday now and it was a true perk knowing such a great person in the hobby and such a wonderful nonjudgemental individual...Hope one day we meet again and can experiencthe simple things in life.....You told me to enjoy everyday and make the most of each day....Your a good friend and mentor Mr. Sylvestre.........................

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

I first met Gerry, Laurier, Dave and his bro Glen, JJ, Gus, Wayne, and others in the early 80's at local funflys in Bonnyville, St.Paul, and Cold Lake. It was the good old days. Gerry was a true gentleman that always had a warm handshake and smile that made you feel at home. Keep smiling Gerry. We will miss him. My condolences go out to the Sylvestre family.

Re: Gerard Sylvestre

I got to know Gerry very well when I was running my hobby business in the mid 80's and 90's. He would call two or three times a week just to chat as time permitted in the afternoon. Gerry was a class act all the way and a true gentleman to the end and he will be missed. The last time we spoke was just before Christmas. Condolences to the family at this difficult time.
