Sig 1/5th scale cub build discrepancy

I am asking if anyone out there has put together this kit as I have a question that I need an answer for. The Sig instruction manuals are fairly accurate and complete so I am asking if Sig may of made a typo error on the length to cut the aluminum wing tube joiner. Sig specifies, cut the tube into 2 pieces 8.375" each. However, when they are installed into their phenolic tube holders of each wing and through the center section of the fuselage
they need to be cut down to 7" in length.
Something is not right and I don't want to do any cut the aluminum tube until I get a second opinion.
thanks, safe flying and careful building.
