maybe because its a toy and they figure parents will buy this for their kids thats why the huge drop in voltage so the power won't be there and the kids won't loose control and hurt someone ,i will be watching this to see your outcome of thisit is interesting with your results with your battery and motor test

Re: Modify a toy grade car

Soory that was my mistake the New-Bright battery was not fully charged and thsi time fully charged the voltage at the motor running gave us a reading of 9.6V so no lost of power anywhere so the question remains": Why are"those toys still so slow? Funny thing hooking up those 9.6V 600mah New-Bright battery directly to a Johnson hairdryer 380 brushed motor and then a 7.2V, 1750mah hobby grade battery to that same motor the motor ran fatser with the New-Bright battery.. So then sounds to me that everything is in the motor and those "no brand" 380 motor you find in toy grade car are the worst POS out there.. I'm thinking of trying to put in a faster hobby grade 380 motor but then which one..? And maybe a fan to cool down the mainboard at the same time?

Re: Modify a toy grade car

I wouldn't recommend any attempts at up-grading to a higher power battery or motor! New Bright RC drive lines are totally pathetic!!

I bought the New Bright 1/6 scale Rammunition and within a few minutes of taking it out of the box I stripped the gears in the differential. All I did was try to drive the truck up over a curb. And I do mean try! It never made it!

And you can forget any hope of getting new parts from New Bright. They told me to return it to the store I bought it from for replacement, which was out of the question because I bought it on-line.[eBay store]

They [New Bright]build cheap under powered crap! Imagine putting a 370 motor in a 1/6 scale truck with seven inch tall tires.

My old Radio Shack Raminator ran circles around the darned thing with a half dead 1200 mah[7.2v] battery pack in it,lol. But the Radio Shack truck came factory with a 540 motor.

The only reason I'd ever buy another New Bright POS is for the body, everything else is pure Garbage!

Re: Modify a toy grade car

I agree that New Bright is not top quality but you mught have been unlucky as my Dodge Ram 1/6 scale is still running strong after few years of light use to be honest but nothing broke. As per New Bright customer service it's more of a joke then anything. What is the fastest 380 motor brushed standard size like the Grasshoper motor that came with a Mabuchi RS 380 SH motor rated as the fastest Mabuchi line 380 brushed motor but reputated still very slow in a RC car despite about 15000rpm
