You will gain 1 or2K RPM when you beak it in ! (It takes awhile !)

Mine got better, every time I ran it. (rich side, never getting it 'hot', always enough castor in the fuel)

I liked the carb. Small bore, but, beautiful throttle response...

My 'broken in' #s were:

-8/5 MA... 13.5 K (on a 44in span Sportplane.)

-9/4 MA... 12+K (on a Jr Kadet R/E Trainer)

My #s are with a strap on muffler, and not trying to 'peak' it. 10% Nitro, and enough 'BeNol' added to 'Pink Omega' to get to 20%oil.

I traded mine, (after 2/3 gallons thru it !))

Very Nice Engine. Try It !

Useless, in the 'Box'...

If you, "Like/and can/ enjoy /running in/lapped pistons/open exhaust"

I have an old McCoy.35'ReadHead' C/L, I will send you...
(I dare you, It is a challenge !)

Everytime, I try 'open exhaust' on my test stand,
I get complaints from my 'Harley' riding neibours,

Either, they feel 'threatened' ,
Or, don't want the Cops to blame them...

I wish I could be in 'Unmuffled' territory !

Try taking the exhaust baffle off.
Then try throttle, with the carb alone, You will learn.

Strap on a muffler, with a tank pressure nipple,

Then 'enjoy a great engine !'...

Take care,
Have fun,

Re: Old baffled engines

Thanks Dave! Yes I am lucky to be in wide open unmuffled country (have a vw based dune buggy that will equal most Harleys) so old model engines that didn't come with mufflers can stay that way. I will just be carefull with my own ears & not run them at the club field when it could bother others!

I was thinking of putting this engine on a Sig Wonder but perhaps something more period correct....Kadet JR...Hmmm
Hang time does not apply to ceiling fans, light fixtures, overhead door tracks or basketball nets!
