Yes, I've got to get it completed over the holidays, and off to it's owner for glassing!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

That fuse is already starting to look good. its just going to keep getting better and better and you bring it along. Looking forward to the time you get all the stringers in.

PS- will the control surfaces be movable from inside the cockpit?

Of course! I've got all the engineering diagrams, detailing all the controls, cable runs, electrical, mechanical, you name it. Before it's officially handed over, I'll be sitting in it, making airplane noises, and flying with Bader, Townsend, and Stanford-Tuck.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Lots of puttering tonight, couple more side frames fitted, and starting to get 3/4 in clear pine installed, where the fuse panels are attached. Slow but sure!

I could sure see myself sitting in there making airplane noises.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

I do have some sound bits! lol Need to install combat flight sim hidden in to it for some serious action! One of these days, I'll build a Spitfire cockpit, and make it into a flight sim, with Flight Sim X. I built one for the RCAF, but it's an airliner cockpit, cool, but nothing like a Spit.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

More progress. Another bulkhead up, and a lot of 3/4 in pine cut to fit each frame, where panel lines will meet up. Last photo is the brace for the kickout panels on either side of the cockpit. Once they're dry, they will be angled back 15 degrees, and attached. 3 more aft bulkheads to fit on the top of the fuse, side ones are already cut, and awaiting installation. Two more bulkheads on the front, including the firewall. I have to drop by the museum prior to Saturday, to get some 3/4 in Baltic birch for that. I'll also have to pick up more clear pine soon. Lots more to go, but looking more and more like a Hurricane.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

I know it's going to be a Shearwater Hurricane, but the Museum hasn't made the call yet. They had Mk 1s from England at the start of the war, and then flew in the Battle of Britain, they also had Mk XIIs later on in the war, so hopefully I'll get that answer soon!
