Thanks Max. Lots of small work behind the scenes today, getting more pieces cut, sanded, and ready to fit. But, I do have a couple of pics of the canopy frame under construction to add!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Got the last of the vertical bits done, now trimming out the horizontal panels. For true Hurricane buffs, you'll notice it's not exact scale, all the vertical frames should be tilted forward slightly. The amount of work to achieve the right look is sadly way out of proportion to the shrinking timeframe I've got to complete the airframe. With luck, if there's time at the end of the project, I can do a proper canopy. If not, it's something I can do after I'm posted, and then ship back to Halifax if need be.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

That canopy frame looks so real. Just paint it green Zinc-Chromate and anyone would swear its metal!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

That was the plan, but the verticals are wrong, and it's really noticeable, with any luck, I can get a helper or two over the holidays, and work on getting a new one built. On the good news side, I got the last bulkhead cut and fit for this part of the fuse. The engine exhausts would start just forward of this bulkhead.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

No pics tonight, but got a lot of little things cleaned up, more doublers in, a pile of measurements done. Next stage is getting the dorsal stringer in place, and final bits for getting ready to sheet the fuse front. After that, build and install the seat, cut notches for the canopy, get the wood supports for the canopy rail installed, then run all the stringers!

OK, a few more pics. Doing the fine trimming and setup of the fuse bulkheads from the cockpit aft, and installation of the spine. Now that I'm on holidays till 7 Jan, hoping I'll get some serious progress done!

"serious progress are you kidding me? Most guys can't build a laser cut .60 size trainer as fast as you are lofting/cutting and gluing this thing together!! Very Cool project

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Thanks. Just did some cutting and fitting on the Starboard side, for the canopy rails. Fingers crossed, think I've got that all figured out! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
