I as well, always wished that more would be seen of the plane.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

You haven't missed anything, I've taken a bit of time to work on a pile of other projects for others, a couple of my own, plus a bit of vacation time, garden work, etc. If all goes well this week, I can clear some space in the garage, and get the vertical stab on the go, followed by horizontal stab and elevators.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

OK , thanks for the answer. I was almost thinking that I had missed a note to redirect ... Hope all is going well. I guess when a project becomes an obsession it is time to take a look around and smell the roses, or do something else for a while.... have fun. Al

Talk about living eating and breathing aviation!
My hat is off to you, your spouse and your combined craftsmanship. So does this mean that you will be selling off some of your redundant aircraft at some point? LOL

I'll have to drop in to see you when I'm down visiting the guys at Eastern Air Service.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

lol I am selling off most of my Nitro fleet, as I've been building larger gassers of late. I've got 1/5th P-51, Spit, Me-109 on the build right now, and a 1/3 scale Grasshopper in the wings. Problem with selling what I have, it's all flying stuff, so shipping would be problematic. I've got the Goldberg Ultimate, Extra 300, Great Planes Ultra Sport .40 and .60, a Top Flite Gold Edition FW-190 D-9, and a Grob Tutor, all up for sale locally.

This fall/winter, along with the Hurricane of course, I've got a 1/4 Spit I'm doing for 443 Sqn, for their new hangar, probably 3 Palmer C-130s, Dave Platt 1/5th FW-190, the Grasshopper, and need to finish my Skyshark 109, TF DC-3, a scratchbuilt Me-292, Pica Deulist, George Miller's A-10. Also a pile of kits still in the box. Leeann has a Pitts Special on the go, a Top Flite Cessna 182, and a Beechcraft Bonanza (V-Tail)! Never a dull moment at our house.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Seeing as it's the Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, what better way to honour that, than do some building? Vertical stab taking shape.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Last of the ribs are in, and drying. Once the glue has dried, then I can run a 1/8th ply leading edge, and run stringers, internal bracing, in preparation for the leading edge sheeting, followed by a laminated leading edge.

Second photo shows the Mick Reeves Vertical stab complete, and for comparison.

While this assembly dries, I'll start cutting all the rough blanks for the horizontal stab and elevators.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

I don't know how you stay on top of all those projects but I'm glad the 1:1 Hurricane is back on the building table!
