Huge day today, along with Leeann getting more paint done on the tail feathers, and even the pilot's seat, I got most of the paint on the wheel wells/inside of the wing center section. And, drumroll please, fabric is now on the right side of the fuselage!!!!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Some photos of some of today's progress. Leeann got the white fin flash portion it's first coat, but due to the blue and red still being a little tacky, she did it freehand, with a roller, and it's perfect! Also, some shots of the fabric process, a mix of tissue/dope style work, but also very similar to using koverall and stix it, except the glue isn't heat activated. This required gluing the fabric to the spine, wait till it dried, then go down 3 stringers, glue that, and so on, till the bottom. Stringers in between were coated with glue previously, which, after shrinking, was activated by thinned dope being brushed along the stringers. Entire fabric then given a coat of dope sealer. Thursday, we repeat on the left side of the fuselage, and then 3 coats of aluminum primer, and hopefully I'll have the wing fillets done. Then, we move the fuse out of the workroom, and Leeann takes over, doing the paint. While she's doing that, we'll work out the joining of the wing center section to the outer sections.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Went in early this morning, to get some finishing touches done on the left side of the fuse, prior to fabric going on tomorrow. Took a pile of photos, so when I get home tonight, I'll post those. Tonight's chores will be a final look at the left fuse, more work on the right wing fillet, and finishing the paint on the inside areas of the wing center section. Leeann will most likely have the pilot's seat done, the vertical stab, and one side of the rudder.

Shots of all the fabric on the right side, and the prep work for the wing fillets on the left side of the fuse.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

More shots of the paintwork. Fabric is going on the left side of the fuselage today, so will have some photos of that late tonight, or early tomorrow. Next stage, one all the current painting is done, and doping over the fabric, will be to finish the wing fillets, any final filling and sanding around the cockpit and nose area, and then the fuselage will be moved out for Leeann to paint, while I setup for attaching the outer wing panels.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Left side of the fuselage is now fully covered in fabric! Two coats of poly to go, then the pinked edge taping of the spine, 3 coats of aluminum primer, and voila, off to paint!
