Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

She started off watching me build a plane, I'd been out of RC for some time. I needed something after Afghanistan to focus on. Building, like flying, requires a lot of attention. It's wonderful therapy. Anyways, she asked if she could help, so put her to work. Then she wanted to build her own plane. She's a talented painter, so painting the Hurricane was a natural fit for her. No one else is allowed near the plane with a paint brush. Especially me. She's also become and expert in iron on coverings, she does a lot of covering on my builds that I don't glass, and a lot of the detail work.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Not sure if there are any words to describe this build. As was said earlier, WOW.

But on a serious note, are you going electric or gas? What type and number of servos will you need?

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Well, Vic Ruzgys, one of our most experienced Sea King Pilot, and very experienced RC guy, wants to slope soar it from the cliffs at Lawrencetown Beach. We're still discussing whether to put full controls so he can fly it, or fake controls, with RC gear, and everyone in the club can fly him, and see who makes him cry, puke, or bail out first! lol

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Hurricane is now getting it's aluminum primer coat over the fuselage fabric area. Should take today and tomorrow, then we'll let it dry for 24 hours, until I get back in to make more sawdust. I'll post pics when it's done.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Aluminum primer is done, and it looks incredible. I dropped by late tonight to take a peek. Another stage complete, on to the next. Pics tomorrow!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Fabric work is all done on the fuselage, time to knuckle down, finish the front of the fuse, and get it over to paint!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Darn it Dave...

If you keep this up, someone is going to accuse you of trying to make an Airplane... or something.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Now if only I could get someone to pay me to build an airplane, or something! Be a nice job to retire into!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Another busy day, got 90% of the foam done on the left fillet, thanks John, while I did the filling and sanding, and more glassing on the right side. Also built the bulkhead for the tailwheel, as it showed up today. It's actually from a Polish made crop dusting aircraft, but very close to the Hurricane, right tire and rim size, so a great addition. Guys at the museum are doing some metal work for the project, they'd like to tackle the valve cover bulges, exhausts, and the landing gear. Work is starting to spread out, thankfully, so lots of things getting worked on simultaneously.
