Thanks, we're lagging behind, frustrating, but slowly progressing. Both main gear are attached, but prior to mounting the wing center section to the fuselage, we've got to beef up the tail wheel mounting area. I'll get some photos up this week, promise. Right wing is now fully sheeted on top, save for the wing tip, which I'll finish over the next couple of days. Then we can get the top of the wing painted, while I finish the ailerons. It's going to be a very busy couple of weeks, but hopefully we can still meet having the airframe together for the local BofB ceremony, 10 Sep.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Finally remembered the Camera! So, some shots of the main landing gear, complete, insanely good work by Chris, and John Webber. Also, my tailwheel mount wasn't up to snuff, so after an evening of work, new assembly is in place, much stronger, four large triangle gussets, and four vertical supports, which all ties into the main fuselage longerons. After bolting the tailwheel back into place, checked it by slowly putting all my weight on the tail, and she's good to go! Tomorrow, I'll be fitting and installing the four main mounting points for the wing attaching to the fuselage, and hopefully get the blocks installed in the cockpit, that we'll use as attaching points in order to hoist up the fuse, and slide the wing center section into. Who knows, we might be able to mate the wing to the fuse Saturday!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

I believe the proper RAF term is "Splendid!" Going to be quite a sight when it's all together.

Btw, noticed the Firefly lurking in one of the photos. Did they ever get that poor thing in the air?

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Long story, sent, short story, she won't be made flyable, simply too much money, but will be very well restored, and on full display soon.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Got it. At least they have her to display! Always struck me as an odd design for a fighter, but it has loads of character. Kind of a Fairey trait I suppose

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Wing mounting blocks, all done! Now I just need to put in the hard points, for lifting the fuselage, and we'll be ready to attach the wing center section.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Super busy, so won't post a whole pile of chatter, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Progress on the right wing, ailerons, oh, and a bit on the fuse/center wing, as you'll see!
