As promised, some pics. Right wing got another 25 square feet roughly of sheeting done, just have two access panels, and the leading edge to go, along with the wing tip. Hoping to have that done by the weekend, so Leeann can get to work painting the undersides, then we can be done with the wings!

The gear doors have quite a bit of detail, that's going to be very visible, so that's a project in itself. Although I'm cutting parts for both sides at the same time, saving the left gear door detail for the CTV crew next Friday, the host wants some hands on, so this will be a good project to tackle in a reasonable timeframe.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Couple of pics showing the right wing fully sheeted on the bottom side, (topside is done, and painted). Leading edge and tip to go, then done. One gear door is almost done, and this weekend I'll start fabricating the radiator, while progressing the gear doors, and canopy. In a week or so, we'll fit both wings on the airframe, and do our weight and balance.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

No shortage of work, trust me. Still finishing off the leading edge of the wing, got a fair chunk done today, along with turning the spinner on the lathe, so it's ready to glass. Bit more work done on an aileron as well. I usually take photos when I:
1. remember to bring camera, and
2. there's a significant change(s) in the appearance.
Still making plenty of sawdust though!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Couple of shots of today's progress. Made an adapter plate for the spinner, so I could chuck it on the lathe. Like turning a big foam bowl. Started off with hand-spinning, until I was fairly confident putting power to the lathe wouldn't result in a pink explosion. All went well, she's ready to glass. Also have 8 feet of the leading edge about 95% shaped, still have a lot of hand plane work and sanding on the inner six feet, but should be a day or two then finished.

Dave;
I just don't believe this statement... YOU WILL ALWAYS BE BUILDING SOMETHING!

You just want the Hurricane project to be over - and what a legacy it will be.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Possibly. Our plan is travel oriented, in an RV. We'll have a space for a couple of aircraft, and a bit of a workshop, but won't be producing a lot, unless I'm building for others.
