Oh that's easy! Sledgehammer and railway spikes. Lots of them. Neighbors complain a bit about the noise, but oh well. Least I'm not always getting a Sea King ride home, and hoisting down into the back yard.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

OK, lots of progress tonight. Got the final aft spar laminated and installed. I then planed down the spars to match the shape of the ribs, quick going over with the belt sander, and trimmed the ends of the spars. I did remember to trace out the outer rib, I have to cut two more for the inner ribs of the outer wing panels. After that was all done, then it was time to trim the first 1/8th sheet of ply, and get ready to sheet the wing. First panel goes from the 1/2 width of the 1/5 in main spar, to the trailing edge. I mixed up a pile of epoxy resin, and coated the stringers, spars, and ribs. We then tacked and clamped the panel, and drew pencil lines over all the rib, spar, and stringer locations. 1 in finishing nails are used to tack the skin to the frame. Checked to make sure we had no gaps. Once done, took remaining resin, and mixed with sawdust from the belt sander. That give a really gooey paste, a perfect filler, and it won't run. went over all the glue joints from inside. Tomorrow, I'll remove the finish nails, and get the second panel ready to go!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Next phase will be to frame in the wheel wells, which are simple to do, thanks to a 1/24th detailed plastic model, tons of photos, etc, that I've collected. I've also cut out all the areas for the wheel wells into the ribs, according to my Mick Reeves Hurricane. They match up with my other documentation, so should be pretty quick framing job for that. Once that's done, I'll see about getting the museum to take delivery, I'll need their space to attach the rest of the box spar and leading edge.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Both ribs for the outer wing panel that join to the inner are rough cut. Skin for second wing panel is rough cut, and will go on tonight. Then it's wheel well framing!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Second panel is on, and drying. Also a view of the inside framework. Have to mark out the framework for the wheel wells now, and get pieces ready to cut for that.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Nails are out on the second panel. Tonight will be the framework for the wheel wells, and tacking the bottom sheeting in place, determining access panels, etc. I'll also have to start work on supporting the radiator underneath the wing as well. Hope to have the inner flaps, wheel wells, and box spar completed by Sunday, so we can transport the wing to the Museum for storage, while I begin the fuselage.
