So, providing a list of all things R/C, and guy stuff not quite what you're looking for? lol No worries, I'll be sure to get Leeann's input, and we'll have a great all encompassing list of cool things Nova scotia for you.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Well we got the exhausts done Saturday, with a couple of coats of ageing olive drab for primer, Leeann then painted them black, after we installed them on the fuse. She also got the paintwork going on the tail fillets, one more coat tomorrow, then they are done. Gun ports drilled and painted, both landing lights done as well. Still to finish, one nav light, about 1/2 hrs work, and the aluminum covers for the wing joins, probably 3-4 hours max for those. Long story short, project will be 100% complete in a couple of days. We've got some serious dusting and cleaning to do, then it's standing by for the unveiling to be announced. I'll pass that along when I know. Thanks to everyone who helped with the project, and thanks to all who've checked out this post. Next phase is sorting through all the photos, write ups, etc, and getting a coffee table book sorted out on the project, proceeds of which will all go to the Shearwater Aviation Museum. PS, the museum has some great Battle of Britain t-shirts and hoodies, as well as nice Hurricane ball caps, if you're interested. Check them out on Facebook!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Working late tonight, but got some time in this AM on the Hurricane, touching up a couple of spots around the landing lights and nav lights, and getting first coat of red doped area painted around the guns. Tomorrow, we have a team showing up, to start off all the heavy duty dusting and wiping down, and fabricating the wing join panels, the very last bit of work to finish. I'll hopefully get home early enough tonight to post a couple of pics.

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

OK, need to follow up with some pics, but tonight, I finished my portion, and downed tools. Leeann has a bit of paint touch up left to do, but I am officially unemployed. We just have to wait for the word on hanging her up, and assemble everything one last time. Meanwhile, the Museum will be hosting an appreciation night for everyone who helped out, museum staff, tow company that moved the Hurricane for us from my house to the Museum, and Shearwater R/C club members who lifted, pulled, dragged, and did a lot of cleanup work. We'll take over the theatre in the museum, which has seating from the aircrew briefing rooms of HMCS Bonaventure, chow down on pizza and popcorn, beer and pop, while watching the Battle of Britain! I'll post some pics by the weekend of everything done, and that will be about it for this thread, until the day arrives to unveil her officially, and then hang her up front and center in the museum. Thanks to all for your interest, support, and you'll get to see the finished product soon!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

While I'm done with all fabricating, there's still assembly to be done. While we can't put the prop or wings back on yet, we did get the tail feathers re-attached today, for the final time!

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

I see the museum already has some signage done up for her.

Also, it's kinda interesting to compare with the Tutor. From the angles I'd say they're roughly similar in size?

Re: Really Giant Scale Hurricane

Signs are for No 1 Sqn RCAF, they flew out of Dartmouth before the Battle of Britain, and were the only Cdn Sqn in the BofB. That's been up for a few years, they just never thought they'd get a real Hurricane. With wings on, the Hurricane makes the Tutor look tiny. Wingspan is 2 feet less than the Harvard, but a lot taller stance, due to that big prop, so overall a tad bigger presence than even the Harvard.
