Is anyone a member of or familiar with the Capital City Flyers in Edmonton? I sent them an e-mail a while ago and never heard back so thought I would pole the folks here.

Is the club electric friendly? All the stuff I see on the web site looks like it is gas powered so I am wondering if they cater primarily to that crowd or if there are a bunch of electric flyers there.

They say to start with - to get the training that you need a trainer. I have a Hobbyzone Super Cub that I have upgraded the electronics in so I now fly it with my DX6i - will that classify as a trainer?

Do they fly in the winter? Evenings?

Anything else you can tell me about them?

Re: Edmonton Capital City Flyers

Hi Steve

My name is Jim Connell and I am the membership guy for Capital City Flyers and I would like to attempt to answer your questions.

First, we are very electric friendly. A lot of members have both glow and electric planes and some (like me) are totally in the electric camp. And your Super Cub definitely can be used as your trainer.

We fly mainly on the weekends and in the evenings, but once you are a member you will be given the combination to the gate that guards the entrance to the field, so you could fly whenever you wish. The same rule applies for flying during the winter. If you wish to fly and you are a member, no problem.

Other than that I would like to mention we have a ‘wings’ program to help anyone who wants to learn to fly (no charge). And our club is very relaxed. More for fun than to complete.

If you have any other questions you could send me an private message.

Hope this helps.
