Prop Adapter Balance

Hi recently bought a prop adaptor for my Hobbyzone champ to use a GWS 5043 prop with it. The adaptor is the Eflite 1.5mm adaptore (EFLM 1933). The problem is when I attach it to the prop shaft and tighten everything up and try to fly there is so much vibration that I am barely able to keep it up. I balanced the prop before so I think that should be ok. Any suggestions?

Re: Prop Adapter Balance

Is there any runout at the end of the adapter? If a tapered collar type the adapter should be a slightly tight fit sliding onto the shaft. Otherwise it will clamp tight only at the bottom and allow for the shaft to move around inside the deepest part of the bore.

The only other possibility is if the prop is loose on the adapter or the prop is laterally out of balance, (meaning the hole could be off the true centerline of the prop).
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!

Re: Prop Adapter Balance

Run it without the prop first, see if it is balanced first. Then proceed onto the prop balancing.

Re: Prop Adapter Balance

Thanks for the ideas. I did try the adaptor itself without the prop on it and even then it is out of balance enought that I can see the circular motion when I run up the motor. It doesn't seem to be tapered so I'm not sure what steps to take. It might be an off center hole or just a bad fit with the prop shaft. Any ideas for another prop adaptor that is more permenant than the plastic ones?
