Gas engine help

Looking to put a gas engine in a 25% Peak Models MXR-S. Plane had a Dle 30 in it. Would putting a 35CC engine that adds about 350 grams to the weight be a big issue. not planning to be 3D'ing the plane.

Re: Gas engine help

Re-balance and you will be good to go! Instead of adding weight to the tail you can always start with moving batteries back.

Re: Gas engine help

With a big step like that I would definitely consider moving the firewall back.

Not necessarily.

It depends on "which" 35 you want. DLE30 is 162mm according to spec sheet. I've found some 35's that are less than this.

You can buy stand offs to adjust for any discrepancies if needed or even use an extra 5mm washer.

It's not an issue to be overly concerned with.

As far as the weight goes, what is this 35?

The dl comes in at 2.4 lb (does not say if this includes the ign) and an MLD35 (as an example--just engine and standoffs) at 2.69 lb--a difference of 131gm.

Re: Gas engine help

Have you already purchased an engine? If not, have a look at the NGH 35 from AMR
I recently purchased one of these for a tight fit application and was very impressed with the quality. Front carb and multiple mount methods and exhaust config's make it pretty easy to mount in just about anything.
