Possible that "your" item was oversize, so should not have been a surprise if you read the shipping terms.

Cool Re: Venting online - UPS

I think the problem lies when you do NOT know what the charges are gonna be til it gets to the door..."SURPRISE"..... and it really is no surprise from UPS anymore.

Re: Venting online - UPS

I used to shop at Hoizon Hobbies untill they stopped using USPS.
My last order was sent unknowingly by UPS. The price for the parts 56.00.
I ended up paying 36 in brokerage fees and then the duty on top of that.
Pardon me it was the other way around but my point is made.

Re: Venting online - UPS

as for not knowing the final costs, there is an option if having an order shipped by UPS (to Canada) tha INCLUDES the freight and brokerage etc. I ususally use it when having an engine returned from JetCat in California. (they won't ship by mail) It costs $90+ but arrives in a couple of days and no cash needed on delivery and no surprise brokerage bill later.

Re: Venting online - UPS

This morning I heard on the news that the UPS profit targets were not met.

Lets hope they go under!!!

BUT, they if can increase their "Profits" by scamming more Canadians with their so called "Brokerage Fee's" you can bet your patootey that they will try!! You have been warned!

Re: Venting online - UPS

-That replacement wing for my H9 got here in 3 days. Was it Canada Post or UPS. Did I have customs BS.

-Those tires from Tire Rack were on my doorstep in 4 days but hey I CHECKED the charges before hand.

So all this complaining is about all of you not bothering to research stuff before you use it.

Clearly Stated and yes you should call to confirm because oversize and other fees may apply.

Give me a break itís a private corporation they can charge what they like and yes it takes labor to get this across the boarder.

We should start some new threads:

-Cda Customs are awesome holding packages for 10 days.
-Cda Post - Why did that 2X4 inch box cost me 15$ to ship.
-Cda Post - Great deal shipping to the states.
-USPS - Great tracking always on time.
-My gosh I did not check the charges and now need to complain.

LOL this is all in good fun I have never been burned because I always look, reality is itís up to the end user to figure this stuff out on there own . Are you guys thinking every time UPS gets a shipping notification they should call you to tell you the fees LOL? They are not hiding anything.

I don't know the rant should be on yourselves and the people you are buying the goods from.

Re: Venting online - UPS

USPS rules. Purolator or DHL are decent. Never, never, ever UPS or Fedex - never.

Re: Venting online - UPS

Now here is the bad news....

USPS is on the brink of collapse. They lose a pile of money every month and are heavily subsidized by the taxpayer. Either their rates will have to climb significantly and soon, or the game is up.
