I guess the biggest issue for me (aside from not hearing the engine) is that the music rarely suits the type of flying. Quite often I see very heavy rock music matched against very boring flying.

If done properly....meaning that the music matched the type of flying and it is only background music so I can still hear the engine, I guess I don't mind it too much but how often do we see that?

Generally I agree, I prefer to hear tHe sounds of the motors/engines. ok IF low VOLUME.
YES for people nearby not talking loud.

One of my flying buddies made this video of me flying a jet at our club., which I think is a good balance of sound.

You can hear the EDF with the music.

The music is played by me. Harmonica, guitars, drums, bass, everything; every note played by me.
