Hello,

Struggled for a month trying to fix the "loosing altitude" on my S800. Switched to V2 IMU on my WKM...problem fixed.

Hope this works, hope it's clear: (switch to 1080 HD if available)

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

I was running into the same issues and when I got my V2 IMU it ended up on my octo instead but put a new V1 on and it took care of it. Last time I had my S800 out it was flown a little too hard and weakened the ESC's so she's grounded for awhile.

Nice Video!

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

This was shot over the course of a few months this summer in various locations. Finally got around to putting it all together! Flying/filming sports action is rather difficult but once you get the timing (of everything) down the results can be very rewarding!

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

Nice video Jason. I mean awesome! Did you have a 2 person set up? 1 on flight control and the other on the camera?
Just curious when you said "it weakend the esc" on your s800 when you flew it hard. You mean the esc burned? Did it happen while flying? Is the S800 still controllable when it happened?
Hopefully someday we can meet. Last time I flew my s800 was in October. Above was my first "real" and last video. I got back to flying helis again. I got challenged my the multi-rotor technology and when I got everything figured out I stopped flying it. I'd like to get more into it next year after winter.

Again nice video!

Best,
John

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

Thanks, I overheated the ESC's flying too fast into a 35km/hr wind trying to get her back to land. She dropped twice on me. First time wasn't too bad, only fell 50' before I regained control but the second time I was 100' up over the water and it dropped 90', barely saved it 10' off the river. The way the arms a angled on the S800 confuses the barometer in the IMU and it automatically alters it's altitude trying to compensate on a full speed flight in the right conditions. It creates a kind of inverse funnel with the air it's flying in.. (mind you it was doing 50/60km/hr) Saving it is what overheated the ESC's. Luckily it didn't get to reach terminal velocity on the descent. Dropping 80' in half a second sure brought out the pucker factor though... geeze. It's been giving me white flashes ever since... I don't trust it until I change out the speed controllers and want to upgrade the arms and motors at the same time. Might just end up buying an EVO since it's about the same price instead and comes with the rest of the upgrades I want. If you know how to fly her she's a good bird.
