Boy this thing is fun
I noticed vibration in the gimbal when I am decending - going to try the 10 inch props that folks seem to be recommending for the F550.

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

In his furry mind he thinks I'll get it Dad, that is once I figure out how to get it! I notice your radio of choice is a nine channel Turnigy how do you like that radio and do you use it on other RC flyers?

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

The 9xr seems pretty good - actually, really good - for the money... but... I do notice the throttle gimbal seems to be wearing, or something. The zero point has changed a little, but a quick calibration seemed to fix it up.
I've only used it flying my quads - coming up to a year old now.
- pretty sure my next one will be a Frsky Taranis.

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

Glad it's working for you I've used HK receivers and still do with no problems, I've also used Frsky 2.4 modules for my Futaba radio with no issues or glitches. I use Futaba myself and have purchased three used ones from here, the last one a 12 channel with Futaba 2.4 module for $300 in pristine condition. New Futaba receivers however are costly so I buy those used or get new HK ones.

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

Crashing is always bad news with anything! Unlike a RC copter when you crash these things the damage seems to always be minimal at least that's been my experience.

Just a lazy flight at the beach. Couldn't get much flying in, answering all the questions as I flew.

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

A few random shots that I was able to screen shot out of a video or 2 that I have made... I am chasing a Heron in one of them (he wasn't nesting or anything... I am the first to respect nature). Quality sucks, but the raw file is perfect! I'll upload some good-ers when I get them on my computer.

Re: Multirotor Pictures and Videos

completed the Nighthawk 250. Everything works and she hovers on first try. Also came out with CG in the middle without moving a thing, using a 1500mah 3S 35C Zippy Compact. I did mount the FC ahead about 1.5cm so the battery can move inboard more (foam tape for the FC). Too dark to fly now. But I really amped up the pitch/roll rate, so there will be blood. hehe

where to buy the kit. it is a sort of copy of the MXP 250 by Xhover - ready for 6 inch props http://www.besthobbymall.com/multiro...e-combo-1.html

For cost breakdown, works out like this:
- Nighthawk 250 full CF frame, including Emax motors, 12A SimonK: $145Cdn, rush ship+border was another $40 though ona shared order with flying buddy who also got this quad
- 12 props. 6x3 Gemfan $6
- vTx 200mW $22
- PZ0420 cam $35
- E OSD $10
- Naze32 Mullet board $22
- Frsky receiver 8ch $22
- hardware $5

$300 total in flying shape with FPV (mobius and antenna shared with other aircraft). So save about $200 compared to a Blackout or QAV with premium motors. But obviously Emax are not Cobra or Tmotors, and Gemfans are not HQ props. The chinese frame is remarkably good in its own right.

Still not cheap I guess. More than a foamie wing build. Less than a Blade 200QX

Going to try flying with camera tilted up 10-15 degrees. I see most mini racing quads are set up like this.

ESCs buried in the belly as the creator of the MXP intended
