Question All chemistry charger/discharger

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
The charger I have handles all chemistry batteries but has no discharge / cycle capability for NiMH or Nicads.
I am looking to get a second charger that will charge all types as well as discharge and cycle. I don't need a multi-battery charger and prefer AC/DC.

From what I see at the LHS's & net, there are 2 possabilities in the $130 range: Great Planes Triton EQ and Dynamite Passport Ultra.
Anyone familiar with these and have a recommendation? Or are there other choices?

Re: All chemistry charger/discharger

I have the Triton IQ and it works great. Only downfall is that when charging Lipos it'll only charge up to 5 amps. That being said, I have a couple that can be charged at 6 amps but I don't see any noticable difference in performance when charging them at 5. It also comes with 2 different balance ports so you can charge basically any Lipo.

How about the Thunder Power TP610C AC/DC? I'd choose it over the other two personally.

I have the DC version and it works great. After a few years the balance board fried and when I emailed them they sent out a new one at no charge even though my warranty was over AND didn't ask for the fried one back as proof.

Re: All chemistry charger/discharger

I currently own a Hyperion EOS720i and had a couple of smaller Hyperion chargers before that. The 720i has a NiCd/NiMh charge/discharge cycling program with up to 80W (10A) discharge.

Hyperion makes a great charger, I highly recommend them. SNHobbies and RCFlightstore carry both Hyperion products and are located here in Canada. The EOS1420i is on sale at both right now for $135.

I would also look at the Junsi made chargers: iCharger and Voltz. Rotorquest and RCFlightstore carries the Voltz line while RCFlightstore also carries the iCharger (ProgressiveRC). The Voltz 6250/iCharger106b+ are essentially the same charger (although at 1/2 the power of the Hyperion 1420i). It has the same cycling mode with discharge capabilities. The price is reasonable at $99.99.
