Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
Tourqe, nice flying in the vid on the Naze32 thread. Can you post a link to the frame? I fly FPV but I should improve my LOS flying. I have a 32 ready for a test flight tomorrow, if my props arrive tomorrow. Next summer, I'd love to hook up and watch you fly, get some pointers on loops and rolls.

Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
Hey Buff.... it's relatively easy and just a matter of pushing the sticks around with a rate expo setting of 1.4.
Warthox frame.... http://flyduino.net/Warthox-Frames_1 Warthox plates have a great design ( was told rated for 100 amps ) but they come with expensive 10mm arms and imo they are over milled to the point of making them weak. For less than the price of one arm HK sells a set of four x525 arms which are 13mm and they'll fit the Warthox plates with minimal drilling. By some matte hard covers as well.... i use them for battery standoffs and mounts. I use Spektrum AR6115e's out the back and TM1100's out the front... they're both 10mm thick and fit perfect. Build my quads tight cuz i fly in all sorts of bad weather. Run a parts list by me before you buy if you want. |

Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
Euan, thanks for the info. When I started multi flying, it was for FPV with a little LOS flying. I didn't do much LOS flying as it was hard to see the orientation when farther away. After seeing your quad with the lime green and orange, I must say it was very easy to follow on your video. I've used those colors on a fixed wing and the lime green showed up the best. Did you paint the arms and is that duct tape? I see you picked up the FC cover. I didn't get it and mounted my 32 using 10mm standoff's. I've only enabled auto level and used default settings for the maiden last night. It worked well but the auto level needs a bit more to get to come back to center. The rates seem fine for FPV so I'll leave them as is. Have you tried AH? I'm going to need to cover the sensor with some foam when I try it out. Is it similar to the naza, mid stick is hover? TC should of placed the baro sensor on the bottom of the board, like my MK FC. I posted the maiden video in the first thread.
I won't be building a LOS quad this year as I just spent enough on the QAV500. Perhaps late in the spring of 2013. BTW, are you on Teambasement-RC? Lots of FPV'ers but you can still join up. http://www.basement-rc.com/forums/index.php Cheers, Brian |

Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
Painted my DJI arms with florescent paint but in a matter of days it faded.
Now i use the florescent duct tape... bought mine at crappy tire. Works great.... acts as a dampener between parts and an insulator for electrical.... and it pretty much glows in the dark. The camera doesn't capture the orange properly... it is much more vibrant than the green. Have LEDs on the arms... they give an extra iridescence to the arms especially in low light conditions... that's why the colours are punching out in the vid. FC covers always and 90 degree headers for a low profile as well. Only fly with gyros so i dinnea know aboot other sensors.... tracks way better than my naza ever did tho... the gyro is just more precise. Default settings in vid... just rc rate was @1.40. for $25 it's a great sports FC imo... cheers... |

Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
I guess I would have to say I am a quadder now too in Mississauga. Im closest to Derry and Winston Churchill area. I don't have what i would consider my multi dream machine yet but would be good to know more people in the area swap ideas and what not...
My first quad was the MQx and have loved them ever since I started flying that. Just bought the Gaui 500x, nothing fancy but this one is intended to be my learning machine. |

Re: Any Quadders in the Mississauga Area?
I am in Waterloo, and I would come consider driving to Mississauga on a Saturday or something to get together to fly and talk multirotors.
Torque66, it looks like you have some real LOS skills. Did you fly RC airplanes before quads? I also mess myself up with orientation, like Buffythesaint said. I am building a large quad for areal video. I like a lot of the stuff Buffy has does on the beaches. I also plan to fly it most fpv to get around the orientation issues I have when flying LOS. I plan to build a small, cheap quad (250-350mm) and a chapter foam 3did airplane so I can get better at LOS. I also have 2 friends in town that have built quads after I built my first one. We would likely all come to Mississauga some time in the spring or summer if someone organized a day in a park or something down there.
