Question Help Needed to Calculate proper Motor & Prop

Hi Folks,
I am new to the hobby and am diving in and "learning as I go" so to speak. I have a foam plane that is a pusher configuration and I need to size a motor, prop, esc for it. The specs on the airframe are as follows:
Wingspan 24in
Wing Area 188 sq in
Overall Length 29 in
battery compartment 130mm(l) x 35mm (w) x 32mm (h)
** there is additional length available for the battery if needed**

The maker of the airframe doesn't recommend any particular motor / prop but gives these general recommendations:

For Slower More Relaxed Park Jet choose a prop/motor/battery configuration to give a total weight of 10-11 oz

For a speedy Park Jet plan on a flying wieght around 11-13 oz with 3s lipo

There is space between the tailbooms for a prop up to 6 in.

Motor brackets will accomodate a brushless out-runner and inrunner motors up to 28mm The open top of the bracket will allow for an out-runner with up to 20 mm length. Maximum inrunner motor lenth is 38 mm.

I have done several searches but have failed to come up with anything that might guide me in selection at this point. If anyone can offer some assistance or advice other than "give up" it would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

If I was you, I would go and see Kelly at "Flying Stuff" - 717 Finley Avenue, Unit 4, Ajax,
Ontario, L1S 3T1. Telephone: 905-619-3768. He has lots of small electric gear & can probably put you on the right path for a very reasonable cost.

I agree with RB. Get yourself a package deal (that's everything in one box -- plane, radio, motors, batteries, charger).

Also, be aware that "park flyer" does not give you the right to use any park -- check on your local bylaws to see what is and is not allowed in oparks and open areas.

I'd suggest dropping by the Ajax RC club ( and seeing who in the club would be able to teach you. Downside is that you have to join the club and MAAC (national association) as well.
