Charging Gel Cells

The typical Gel cell 12 volt sealed battery is labelled Pb on the casing.
Can it be charged by cycling up and down if left in low volt state for several months?
Meaning 11.0 volts

I use a Hyperion charger, so I assume the battery type selection should be Pb ??

Re: Charging Gel Cells

My intelligent battery charger actually has a sealed gel cell selection, but I would assume if you go with Pb and a low charge rate you should be fine.

I find they don't take much to rewind fully. Basically most I've worked with are maxed at 10Ah.
I know there's money in aviation........I put it there!

Re: Charging Gel Cells

I use Pb for mine and just give it a gentle charge rate. Gel cells are funny, some take mounds of abuse and last for years and others expire early. Go figure.

Re: Charging Gel Cells

Lead acid cells/batteries don not fare well if left in a discharged state. A process called sulphation occurs that will reduce capacity and eventually render the cell/battery useless. This is evidenced by high internal resistance and failure to take a charge.
Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Question Re: Charging Gel Cells

I just purchased a 12V-9amp gel and currently charging at 1.5amps with a Super Nova set at Pb. Iím guessing this will take several hours for a full charge. Also received my SIG field box, today, from Great Hobbies, so once everything is completed; I understand I can charge the gel battery through the power panel, yes?
