2409-12 combo puzzle???

I am hoping that somebody might have some experience with this situation....
I purchased a tower pro 2409-12 combo that came with a 25amp esc and 9x6 prop. Unfortumatly, I trusted that because it came as a packaged set that it would work well.........mistake. The plastic motor mount actually melted!!! It turns out that using a 3 cell, it draws 300watts at 36 amps, just a little too much I think!!??!!
Does anybody know the specs on this motor, maximum watts and amp tolerances, maybe the optimum prop size? I am trying to avoid buying a dozen props.
Thanks in advance...Ken

Re: 2409-12 combo puzzle???
Those Towerpro motors used to be very popular for foamies. They are very cheap but build quality is so-so. The mfg ratings are VERY optimistic as you've found out. I've owned a few of them and always seemed to have issues with balance, excessive bearing wear, and easily bent motor shafts.
HeadsUpRC used to sell this motor. Check out their prop recommendations:
A 9x6 is definitely too much. Even a lower pitch 9" prop is pushing this motor to it's limit.
Here is some more prop testing for this motor which agrees with the 8x4 prop yorcram recommended:
