I noticed an unusual loud noise coming from the motor; I removed the motor and saw a cracked case, it's plastic.

Anyway, anyone installed a non-PKZ stock motor (about $60) that would fit without modifications and/or changing the ESC? The stock motor is a brushless 15 outrunner; 720Kv.

My son used an E flite 15 in his . But for the price you can almost get 2 from Hobby KIng. Some minor mod may have to be done. Tom HK brushless Easy match

Re: Replacement Motor for PKZ Messerschmitt Bf-109G BNF

I mounted an e-flite power 25 870Kv on the stock motor plate with a 60 amp ESC. I am using the stock prop. I fly it with both 3S and 4S. With 4S it is much faster than stock. The tail end was reinforced for the higher speed. First by installing a longer carbon tube in the stabilizer so it will be stiff and straight and then installed thin carbon rods from bottom of stabilizer to a spot ahead of stabilizer near bottom the fuselage. Even though it is not scale, these rods greatly stiffened the tail end which previously flexed too easily. Also reinforced the main wing with a 1/4 inch carbon tube. The coring in the wing was done with a sharpend brass tube and the carbon tube was epoxied in. That was an interesting challenge, but it worked out well. It flies well take off is with a dolly.
