hey guys ..
Have you ever have one of those planes that you loved flying?

Well I
as it tuns out, it's a Seagull Yak 54 120.

It was 2 weeks ago, after the 3rd flight when I was putting it through it paces and wringing it out...
The all of a sudden I had no elevator control ... you know what happened next

I was upset but not mad.. when I got to the carnage and examined the plane I found that the pin on the clevice broke of.. (maybe I should of used metal ones or I should of kept it as a split elevator, but that could be another discussion)

Any how ! I went to LHS and ordered another one... liked it that much
and I just picked it up today... we will say it's a father's day gift from the dog !
who has had the same thing happen to them?
what was it?
and how did it meet there demise?

Re: Replacement Yak 54

Nice planes but the hardware (as you unfortunately discovered) is crap!

Re: Replacement Yak 54

I had a reactor bipe with a DLE20 jammed in it. I bought it second hand off this site. It was my first gasser and bipe. It was well beyond my abilites then and probably still but it was my favorite so far.

I had it on high rates for the first time and the roll rate was insane. It was not quite as locked in after some blazing fast rolls. I was turning in on final and next thing I was looking at the wrong side of the wings. It went into the only ditch with standing water around. Airframe was a write off. Dle survived (after full tear down to remove mudd) and all electronics.

Investigation of the wreckage showed a broken plastic control horn on one ailereon. So was it a failure, high speed stall or dumb thumbs, who knows but I miss it.

She will be replaced one of these days. With HD hardware.
