Hey Sport seems size is not relative to price

Sent a “HUGE” parcel (2.36kg) to Ontario and she only charged me 23 bucks, go figure!

Re: Canada Post- Whats up with that

I just got a package weighing 1.6 kilos and measuring about 30x20x10cm from Vancouver and it cost about $23. Expedited parcel and it came by truck (took five days).

Don't forget that you're subsidizing the shipping of packages into remote hamlets in the far North and having a paid postmistress/master servicing that community. The courier companies can compete with Canada Post in the large metropolitan areas but won't cover the remote hamlets without a hefty charge being paid by the people from there.

Essentially, they're the only game in town.

Have found that the postal people here in Town for the most part will try hard to give you the best price they can. If its more then you think it should ask why. Might be another option to ship.

Re: Canada Post- Whats up with that

Most people don't realise how complicated the regs are. Once you get the hang of packaging stuff to take advantage of their system, life gets easier for all concerned. Just like any other organisation, the post office is full of people, people like you and me. Look around you, and see how you all differ: some of you work well with customers, some don't. Some fully understand their job, some don't.

Our little post office only has a half-dozen people in it: one is a robot, pure and simple, One comes across as near sainthood, she is so good at the job. Strangely they all like their jobs, and (gasp!) do their best. I am always offered a number of different options, and hints on how to save money...
