I like it, It would make fitting it into tight cowls much easier. I don't think the new head will fit the old model, different port design for sure.

Yeah, the heads are not interchangable.

This motor should be really popular with the warbird crowd. With the muffler tucked neatly behind the head, no more hacking up cowls to make the muffler clear.
Especially on P-51's. Even wrap around pitts mufflers were a challenge on the P-51

Re: DLE 55 rear exhaust

The J-tech TF P51 DLE55/DA50 muffler fit nice in the cowl but costs $140 to get it to your door. The DLE55R costs a bit more but the stock muffler will work for the narrow cowls.
The DLE35R looks like it turns about 500 more RPM's then the 30 and will be perfect for the 80" warbirds.
